Making up two-fifths of a square mile, the Warehouse District’s proximity to the Union Pacific Railroad’s rail yard, distribution centers and produce sheds constructed around the railroad tracks in the early 1900s led to the formation of the Warehouse District as the commercial heart and economic core of Old Phoenix.

BEER

Attendees 21 and over with ID will be able to purchase beer from Four Peaks Brewing!

TRAIN HISTORY

Railroad Fest is a celebration to Phoenix's rail history, and the city owes a great deal of its current existence to the railroads. This festival will showcase the warehouse district's link to the past! Through model railroad enthusiasts, local art, historians, and filmmakers that participate in sharing what they know, Railroad Fest celebrates the other side of the tracks!

Railroads in the state got their start in 1877 when the Southern Pacific arrived in Yuma on its way to completing its line to Tucson in 1880. Over the years Arizona would become home to seventy-six different railroads although most of those have since been either abandoned, sold, or merged. Arizona has got to be one of the most fascinating places in the United States to be involved in railroading of any type - be it rail fanning, model railroading, collecting train memorabilia, or historical investigation. Arizona is an amazing landscape of striking contrasts - from snow covered forests in the north, to blazing desert sands in the south.
